Pilot Club of Lancaster Inc

The Pilot Club of Lancaster, Inc. chartered in May,1947 is an active 501(c)3 volunteer service club providing support to many organizations throughout our community, including the founding of our local Meals on Wheels, the Brain Minders program for children, Arch Street Center, Alzheimer’s Memory Walk, Feed My Starving Children, Lancaster County Children & Youth, Ronald McDonald House and the sponsorship of the Anchor Club at Hempfield High School.

Our club’s main service project is the search and rescue program, Project Lifesaver. We’ve partnered with Project Lifesaver International to bring the program to our local police departments to serve at-risk individuals and their families. Project Lifesaver can locate individuals with Alzheimer’s, Autism, or any cognitive challenge which may cause them to wander. A watch-like transmitter is worn on the individual’s wrist or ankle. The trained Electronic Search Specialists use radio frequency equipment to locate the person quickly.  Average search time is 30 minutes. This life-saving program provides a safety net for the individuals and caregivers. We currently partner with the following police departments as full-member agencies: East Cocalico, West Hempfield, West Lampeter, Manheim Township, Elizabethtown, Ephrata, Lititz, New Holland, Strasburg Borough, Lancaster City Bureau of Police, and Lancaster County Emergency Management.  The following departments as associate members: Columbia Borough, East Hempfield, East Lampeter, Manheim Borough, Manor Township, Millersville Borough, Mount Joy Borough, Northwest Regional, Pequea Township and Susquehanna Regional.  PA State Police ~ Troop J, Lancaster is a full member agency and has become a vital part of our county-wide efforts and service. Now, we can enroll and serve at-risk individuals in every corner of Lancaster County!
